Take the summer reading challenge:

Meet the Summer Reading Challenge! Scholastic.com

Trading Card site : http://readwritethink.org/materials/tradingcards/

Dear new Sixth Graders,

Your summer reading assignment is to join the Scholastic Reading Challenge.  There is a link to this challenge for you to choose on this Homework page. Click on Join the Challenge under Ages 7 and Up.  Then you click on Kids, Go Now, and click under the sign in screen to make your own screen name and password.  Be sure to print out your screen name and password when prompted to do so.  Complete step 2 with a parent so the school minutes can be tracked. Start reading, and log your minutes online. We will expect you to read about 4 books of your choice, and print out the log to show us when you return to school. There are lists of appropriate books on the scholastic website, along with blogs, and other fun activities. Pick your favorite character from three of the books and make and print a character trading card on this website for each:  http://readwritethink.org/materials/trading_cards/

Bring your three trading cards with you on the first day of school. Be sure to add a picture of the character on each card.

If you still don’t know all your times tables, practice them this summer.
