SUMMARY:This unit encourages students to identify and observe features and behaviors of birds near their school. After making their observations, students use the Internet to learn about a specific bird in greater detail and then construct a field guide describing it. They can also share their descriptions with other students via email.

25 Buddy
SUMMARY:
This travel buddy project was developed to incorporate all areas of the curriculum and utilize technology as much as possible. It was also designed to fit into all elementary classrooms. Math activities such as graphing, charting, comparing and contrasting are utilized with the school survey information. Social Studies lessons will be planned by the teacher to incorporate the states that the buddy will be visiting as well as culture and community information. Language arts skills are used to record daily journal entries and to compose email correspondence. The digital camera, video camera, Internet, private chat, and video conferences will be used in this project also.

28 All about Grass
SUMMARY:Students will research, select and plant 3 or 4 different types of grass seeds. They will keep detailed records and follow a strict schedule of watering and fertilization. On the same day and following the same procedures, partner classes from around the country will plant the same seeds. Students will tend the grass, while monitoring growth rates and weather conditions. The goal being to determine the best seed for different climates.

30 Here at FUN BRAIN students will enjoy exercising their brain power with a variety of activities. The game Math Baseball allows students to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division computation skills as they attempt to score runs. Change Maker is another math game that involves what amount of money will be given in change and the denominations that should be used. Fun Match is a memory game, and Spell check is a word game where students must locate a mispelled word among a group of four and spell it correctly. The site allows you to choose the age level of your students.

Click on Mr. P's hands,eyes,ears,nose, or mouth and you'll be whisked to a page that explains the related senses of touch, sight, hearing,smell,or taste. The resource was designed by elementary students and includes a great glossary and an activities section that contains a recipe that incorporates all of the senses.

Rubberbandology
This activity is designed for upper elementary school. Students will explore the property of elasticity. During the activity, small groups of students observe, collect data, and develop relationships while stretching a rubber band at various lengths and at varying temperatures. After the activity, students graph data to help make accurate predictions and inferences about the elasticity of a rubber band. Students will communicate their ideas through short written summaries and group and class discussions.
