"Padding out" for fullness with twisted or rolled newspaper strips may prove the biggest challenge, but with a little practice it shouldn't be too difficult.White glue and paper towel is also needed to complete the effect of these old world type objects; the metallic paint provides the final polish. These crafts are not only fun to complete, but would make great Mother's Day presents.Try writing a poem or verse for a card to accompany the project.
7	SILHOUETTES http//www.seedsofknowledge.com/silhouettes.html All moms love this project, where students will help to create silhouettes of each other for a Mother's Day gift.Directions here let you create a silhouette on white paper.Also try outlining with white chalk on black paper, mounting the product on a white background. For an even more dramatic effect, add lace paper doilies behind the black silhouette cutout.
8	FUNNY FAMILY FRIDGE MAGNETS http//pbskids.org/zoom/do/funnyfamilyfridgemag.html Moms will certainly get a smile with these fridge magnets! Students will need a picture of mom (or other family members, including themselves). They will cut out the head, add a body from a magazine--the more extreme the pose, the better--and paste both onto cardboard stock. Glue on thin strips of magnet tape to create a fridge magnet.
9	LOVE U'S http//www.hitentertainment.com/artattack/loveus.html Very cute... Materials are simple newspaper, paper towel, white glue, cardboard, paint, and glitter. Create some of these dimensional love messages for wonderful Mother's Day gifts.

Find directions here to create beautifully yet simply designed bubble art stationary, with guidelines on creating accompanying envelopes as well.
11	WRITE A BIO POEM http//www.seedsofknowledge.com/biopoems.html Substitute your students' names in this poetry format with the word "Mother", and then go on to help your students think of attributes that best describe their mothers, following the format given. Have students copy their finished poems in their best handwriting, then glue them on to a heart form, in any color, for a perfect Mother's Day gift.
